It's okay for the thread to be missing but I would be nuts if the needles are missing. That would worry me to death.
The thread was pretty tightly wrapped but the needles were in paper. My husband said he saw them batting them around so hopefully there was more interest in that than chewing. Hopefully, they're under a dresser and can't get at them.
