what width do you cut your strips to get a nice binding and what seam allowence to you use to attach it to the quilt? I have been trying different widths and the one that works best for me is 3 inches, sewing it on with a 1/2 inch seam. When I fold it over the remaining inch just covers the stitching. How does this work with a 2 1/2 inch strip? Or another width. Does the binding end up the same amount on the front and back or is one side wider? Thank you so much.
