Get the reader, EQ7 will take you some time to get the hang of and the reader is ready to go.
If you read alot that would be my choice. I have both a reader (Kindle) and EQ6.
Unless you're designing quilts or blocks on a daily basis, you'll probably get more out of the reader. Just my opinion.
