I use mine a lot for previewing color choices rather than *designing* quilts. I generally design or sketch with a pencil first and then run it through EQ. If you are not doing photo quilts, EQ6 is fine. I have EQ7 and the only upgrade I find useful is the ability to easily turn images into quilt patches.
