I just did my first quilt - a baby quilt - which I made with hi-loft batting to be nice and puffy so I tied it ( I also don't know how to quilt yet!) but instead of cute little bows or yarn ties, I did about 12 narrow zigzags right on top of each other and tied each one off on the back, because I was worried a baby could chew and swallow the ribbons or yarn. Probably I was being a "fuss-mother" which is what my kids used to call me.
