I haunt the 2nd hand stores and thrift shops, hang out here a lot, search for specific patterns on line. Felt I might miss something because I'd rather use my limited funds for fabric. So, you all have convinced me I really don't need a subscription.

Most mags, regardless of genre really are more an advertising vehicle than anything else. Check it out: most mags are 2/3-3/4 adverts, AND, the editorial content is driven by the advertisers. For example, the mags that advertise cigarettes will not print articles that talk about the dangers of smoking. This is industry wide, just the way it is. So, of course the articles are going to tout a line of fabric, an expensive new tool, etc. It's all about selling.
