Lidoderm patches. They are actually approved for shingle pain however my pain management doctor prescribed them for my nerve pain. You put it on in the area of pain and leave it there for 12 hrs, then off for 12. You can use up to 2 at a time. No side effects (for me) and work more than any pain pills, etc.
I also take lyrica (which is similar to neurontin) you might want to discuss the pain and sometimes switching meds can help.
And I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Nerve pain is a bugger! People who don't experience this pain don't realize how it can easily drive you insane. *hugs*
