Have you looked on Ebay for a travel size or older iron. I have quite a few and really like them. Just be sure and read the descriptions thoroughly and check the seller's feedback and you shouldn't have any problems. You can also check out the thrift shops where you live and if you're lucky you can find some really great older irons for $2 - $5...just ask to plug them in and make sure they heat up. I prefer the older irons to the ones today and have never had a problem with them. Plus you don't have to deal with the darn automatic shutoff.
