Thank you...all of you. This was the first time I posted. I really appreciated your input. Just ordered one through Amazon. Have been attempting an applique with a full-size and it just doesn't cut it.

Have you tried the Mini Iron II? It's great for applique. I've used and loved my travel iron for years but the Mini Iron II is all I use for applique.

I prefer the older irons to the ones today and have never had a problem with them. Plus you don't have to deal with the darn automatic shutoff.
I recently was in the same predicament. My small craft iron that I keep next to my sewing machine, to press small seams as I "build" my blocks, quit working. All the reviews I read about new craft irons were pretty bad. I went to ebay and found an old travel iron for $5.00. I am so happy.
