If you are cooking collard greens wash them well and cut in about 2" strips and put in enought water to cover with salt and pepper, 1/4 to 1/2 cup sugar depending on how many you are cooking and season with bacon drippings. You can also throw in 3 or 4 strips of bacon fried crisp and crumbled up. This serves up well with a good pan of cornbread. Now I'm hungry.
