It has to fit under the seat. Remove the needle. Be prepared to prove it's a sewing machine and you might even have to plug it in. The airlines don't call the shots ... TSA does (even if they don't know it). Never send it through with your luggage. OR you can take it to one of those pack'n'ship places. They'll pack it up and mail it for you. I shipped a JanomeJem (11lbs) from east coast to west coast .... cost just under $50 for the packing and shipping. If it gets broken they pay. Have fun on your trip.
