I cut away from my body. I find that if I place my cutting mat on my dining table which is lower than my kitchen peninsula, I do better. I can put my weight into the hand that holds the ruler as well as the hand with the rotary cutter. This gives me more stability. I've had a stroke and have less strenght in my right hand.
