No, you are not crazy. Even though the quilt might be for someone else, it still represents you and if you feel that it's not right and want to fix it, go ahead. I am that way, I use my seam ripper all the time. It's all about how we feel about our work, not what someone else thinks. Go for it girl and good luck.
