scratch them with a sharp pointed something from your husband's workshop and rub in something inky. you'll get a very fine line. i did it with permanent old fashioned pen ink and QUICKLY rubbed off the extra with mineral spirits. practice on a scrap for speed.
for that purpose you just need 8 wedges, to line them up against each other.
