In addition to checking with the yahoo groups, which is a great idea, I would also see if you can speak with a sewing machine repairman to ask about the "catch".
You might also want to call the headquarters office and see if they have a repairman you can speak with or their customer service department. The dealer may not want to deal with the situation until the non problem becomes a problem causing a repair bill to you.
