Carol,
Forgot to mention. Each flowerets can be made anywhere. This is for hand work. easy in a lap.

I have sewn on a bus on my way to doctor's appointments, physical therapy..ect..sitting in wheelchair

each floweret can be attached by hand along with a boarder color. A hand quilt top.

While looking in antique stores ( hard to see our wedding gifts in antique stores !! we don't feel that old ! ) The grandmother's garden quilts are quilted about 1/8th inch away from "ditch" toward center of all hexagons. I use my machine to stitch the center of flowerets and a few random connecting hexagons, much like a tack quilt. I do baby quilts. said that.
