When I taught Home Ec. I wrote to china requesting information on their silk for my class. They sent me a beautiful silk scarf, a couple of cocoons, and a bundle os silk strands along with a chart explaining the whole chart. That's exactly how the cocoons looked and the bundles of slik strands looked. What an excellent gift. Not sure what you would do with the cocoons, maybe cut a small slit on the back and pull out the catapiller then hand dye the cocoon in various colors and designs. spray a sealer, attach a small pin on the back over the slit and sell them as jewelry.
The lady who has those cocoons does fibre art and she does some amazing stuff. I believe she soaks them and opens them out into little circles dyes them, but what she will do with these new ones I donīt know, but be sure I will post pics
