I purchased one of the saucer-shaped ones at WildBirds Unlimited last fall to replace my ceramic one. I chose the high perch one that puts the little perch bar up slightly above the feeding holes. I've never had so many visitors before; they seem to love it! Had some trouble over the winter (in the PNW, the Anna's Hummingbirds are year-round residents) having to bring it in overnight to prevent freezing, and the female hummer would hover in front of the kitchen window as if to say, Well? Where is it? Easy to clean, well in middle to keep out ants. We have a hook bolted to our upper deck that it hangs from.
A month ago, some of my daughters friends (late teens) were over and saw the female hummer feeding. They asked what kind of bird that was and didn't believe it was a hummingbird until she flew off. They'd never seen one perched before!
