I wrapped my fabric around the plastic sign board pieces to go on the shelf and at the same time wrote on the board the dimensions of the fabric and any other info I thought might come in handy with a pencil. That way I can erase and reuse when the fabric is gone. Also If I use part of the fabric then I can write what is left.
