The scrim used in W&N batting is pretty much unseen however if you do a quilt like this and quilt with the scrim side IN and then put it in the washer and dryer the batting is going to dissapear. lol However there is an easy way to make sure you have the scrim side OUT. take a corner of the batting piece you will be using and damp your finger (just touch a wet towel or lick your finger lol) then start rubbing and scratching at the batting if it doesn't start to pull away flip it over and to the same thing on the other side in the same spot. The cotton batting will start to pull away on one side or the other leaveing behind the scrim. Scrim will look like a super lightweight interfacing. Here is a picture of scrim on a quilt I quilted "inside out", ya know I'm a know it all and didn't have to test this piece because I knew it was right. LOL!
ETA the side that pulls away is the side that goes next to the quilt. the side that is the "interfacing" looking stuff goes OUT!
