I use a tv tray all the time. I put a ironing pad on one side and the other has a cutting mat. At a retreat I went to one of the shops had made a "mini" big board to fit the top of a wooden TV tray. It was a good idea, but the price was too steep. They wanted $68 for the top and Tv tray. I think I will ask dh to make one for me. A little bigger than what I have but not that much ($68) bigger.
