My energy prices are pretty good & we have several electric companies here for different rates. My a/c is pretty efficient although it's really old (from 1976). I generally have a rule that the thermostat stays at 78 if I'm not home, a little lower (around 76) when I am home. I vary that depending on how often the ac turns on.

Also fans help keep the air moving.
