Here is the wonderful lady who received the quilt we made for her retirement. Now I'm getting orders: I'm retiring in two years ... is that enough notice to start my quilt? LOL The total cost of materials, quilting, and label came to $178.72. That does not include the 40 hours of labor my friend and I put in (this is a SIMPLE pattern) and I did buy back the excess fabric - bought 24 fat quarters in 2 bundles of 12 and used 14 - bought some fabric for a border that we ended up not using.

The quilts I usually make come no where near this cost so ... felt strange spending that kind of money (given by everyone on our campus - not just my friend and I!). When anyone has asked if we take orders our stock reply is "you can't afford us".

The teacher who taught my first quilting class said that she averaged $300 in materials for a quilt. It didn't seem that included sending it to be quilted. I couldn't imagine, but ... now can see that it's possible. Just not my world to do that.

Again, thanks for all the help!
