My mother's first sewing machine was a non-electric sewing machine, so I did learn how to sew with a treadle machine. Later, when she became a seamstress she bought the attachment to put on the wheels so that it will run on electric.
I have been trying to find a decent sewing machine in the late 50's around my hometown, but have had no luck so far.
