We are amalgamated into a larger area know as the Greater Hamilton Area in southern Ontario. This city has been known as the 'Lunchbox City', 'The Hammer', 'Steel Town'.
It's more formal moniker is 'The City of 100 Waterfalls'. Our city buts up to the Niagara Escarpment. Half of the city is below the escarpment, the other half is above. In spring and heavy rains, you can be within walking distance of many varied waterfalls, some large, some small.
The Battle of Stoney Creek was fought here where the British troops helped repel the Americans. Had they not, our area might have become part of the U.S.
We have the Royal Botanical Gardens which is nationally known and of course, the home of the Tiger-Cats football team- oskee wee wee!
