You may go to a shop that sells brother machines and see what they would give you for a trade in credit towards something new. Otherwise, I would look for a used vintage machine like a Singer 400 or 500. They last forever, can do your own servicing and they have capability of doing decrotive stitches. You should be able to find one under $200.
