I originally bought a Baby Lock Sophia, and although I like it to sew with, I've had nothing but problems with the emboridery. Next I bought a Janome 11000 Memory Craft. It was expensive, but I love it. I've a friend who had a Janome for years. She upgraded to a Baby Lock - the next to the top of the line, but the name escapes me. She likes the machine, but it is not the workhorse that Janome's are. I'd go with a Janome that you can afford.
