Perhaps, as many on this board have said before, the washable school glue is really more of a thick starch product that washes out, whereas the fusibles will make a stiffer finish to a fabric. I think if you used lightweight fusible, it wouldn't make the fabric too stiff; might even be a plus for the binding.
Maybe because washable school glue is cheap...@ back to school time, probably 25 cents a bottle; goes a long way. Most I've read here, dry iron the tiny glue dabs & it's dry right away, and also can be pulled back open without problem in case of an error.
