All marriages work differently and only you know what it would cost you to go if your husband didn't want you to go. However, if your health would permit you to drive and finances would let you do it, then you should see your extended family. Your boys should meet them. Your boys should see some of America. Maybe your folks can help with expenses. If you do go, for the sake of your boys and your health, try to take a few days more and have more of a vacation. Because of my husband's work schedule I had to take my boys on vacation every summer for 10 years. I drove from California to Louisiana and we camped, usually took a month to see everyone. Camping and eating out of a cooler cut expenses so that we could visit everyone and see all the sights. The boys still talk about how much they enjoyed the trips 20 years later.
