Sorry to hear about your fire...my Rowenta shorted out too..it was only a year old...but I happened to be in front of it and heard it pop...unplugged it immedialitly....threw it away and told dh I will never spend $100 on a iron again...I am back to the old Black and Decker.....Blessings
