I "walk" the fabric. I simply stand at the narrow end of my cutting mat, cut as far up as I can reach, then move the fabric down. I do about a 4-6" overlap with the ruler so it lines up well with the previous cut edge and cut again. I don't fold it because I always get the wobbles.
I was trying to think of a term that would describe what I do, and this pretty much sums it up. Keeping the ruler stable is
really important.
