I think you should just keep doing what you are doing! We all quilt/sew for different reasons. If it makes you happy, who cares what the quilt police say? I think quilts embody your heart and love...who doesn't appreciate that? I've stopped comparing my quilts. I will never be "perfect" and that's just fine with me. I am who I am and that's all that I am...the quilting queen! Long live the queen!
