I always go to Snopes.com when I get anything via emails regarding articles like these. 9x out of 10 the stories are all the same, just a few tidbits are changed, liked the cities, the persons name, etc. These articles have been floating around for years. Not all can be proven as factual. They do make you think, and when we can pass on an email reminding our friends and relatives to be safe out there, the messages may actually save a life.
