Sorry to hear about your husband. I'm not really able to comment on the specific machines but I can share my experience of having a new machine (Singer) and an old Husqvarna. For me the single biggest benefit of the new machine is that its significantly lighter than the old one, which means I can easily take it along to a class. Other than that there is really nothing I can do on the new machine that I couldn't do on the old one.

If your Elna is doing what you need it to do, maybe stick with it?
