I had no interest in sewing until I was 17 years old and went with my mom (who did sew) to a fabric store where I saw some material I just fell in love with. I told my mom I wanted to make a dress with it (on Thursday) for a date on Saturday night. My grandmother, who lived with us, said she would show me how and I finished sewing the snaps in the side placket as my date drove in the yard on Saturday. He was so impressed with what I had done that besides taking me to several of his friends homes that evening, he told everyone we met that I had made my dress. That was the beginning - I have been sewing for almost 50 years now and still enjoy it.
