I have basel joint arthritis in the thumbs of both hands. The surgeon recommended that I have them both "fixed" but the operation would require 6 weeks immobility and therapy after that. Can't bear the thought of not being able to do anything for so long!! So-when my thumbs get really sore, I just rest them for a while and go back to work when they feel better.
