This was going to be my suggestion. Being a beginner quilter, I can't start another quilt project until one is complete - I would find it way too confusing. Sometimes, my mind is just not in a place to handle cutting/piecing of a quilt project, so I break out some cross stitching, a book, a magazine or do a little scrapbooking - or simply taking a break from all crafts for a day or two usually sets me back on the right track. There is nothing wrong with your thinking!
