As for you, I think you learned an important lesson. Even though you might have been hesitant to step out of your comfort zone and approach the woman, you did so. Too often our own fears keep us from doing as much good as we are able to do.
I always taught my son to never refuse money to someone who asks. Always give even if it's your last dollar. You will always be able to get another dollar, but the person in need might not.
Isn't it amazing how our own acts of kindness transform us?
