My strips are all different lengths. I sew the strips that are ~ the same length roughly until I have ~13" wide strip set. If my strips are not ~12.5-13" long, I only make 10.5-11" wide strip sets.
I do something like this for my smaller strip sets

when I trim the 4.5 set, I save the cut off pieces to be used again for the next set of strips

This where I try to get as many 12.5 squares from a strip set

and then the 4.5 and 2-2.5 strips
