A few times I've had a quilt that I started to actually hate and never touched it for months at a time.
But if your Mom is getting rid of her stuff, couldn't you ask for it and her machines? Then if she should want to quilt again in the future you would have her stuff safe. What you hadn't quilted up, that is.
