As a mother of two fur babies, I would appreciate a photo of the dog on the quilt. That way she will always feel like she's is still cuddling with both dogs. I would put a label on the back "In loving memory of ????" and date of birth and death. A nice memorial. I did something similar when a friends beloved dog died to a tote bag.
