Do include something for her. Our kids were heart broken when our husky died of old age. I cut off a corner of the blanket for each of them with the intent to sew it into a larger one. The rest of the blanket I planned to bury with the dog ( partly because it never would come clean of dog smell) My husband pulled it at the last minute and now I'm stuck with this smelly thing I can't get rid of. Perhaps eventualy she would like a piece of the old blanket preserved or sewn into the new one

You might include the lable with "In Memory Of" and make it removable so if it is too painful she can remove it. I wouuld not include the dates

It's a beautiful quilt and it's very thoughtful of you to make it for her. I think she'd love a picture of her pet. So sad about her loss.

I agree!

I would definitely include it. Last year I made a small quilt for someone who lost 4 of her 5 fur babies in a fire with pictures of each animal. She loved it. I think it is a great rememberance.

I would love to have my fur baby memorialized on a quilt. Definitely include the picture.

I have been following this thread throughout the day and I just thought of something. This child is five years old.
The dog was 5 years old. I don't believe she said how old the daughter was.

The heart is a funny thing. I would put the dogs picture on it somewhere. Then it would always be with you as her and her remaining dog cuddle up. It will be a real comfort to her I'm sure.
