Sometimes when I am trying out a new idea I make a practice quilt with left over fabrics, and learn to correct my skills there, before using my "good" fabric. I can see the difference that extra preparation made in my current work. I have been quilting 1 year and am pleased to feel that I am learning by applying new skills with each quilt. It does take that patient dedication to improve and not allow discouragement to creep into your mind.
