I received lots of helpful suggestions, mostly "Start Small." Well, I did take that seriously and gave it lots of thought; but I'm both optimistic and stubborn. So I am going to try a quilt for my bed.
My first quilt was a king-sized sampler quilt. I even quilted it myself on my regular sewing machine.
So if you are like me "optimistic and stubborn", then you should do well.
