I've mostly used flannel for baby items - bibs, burp cloths, changing pad, stuffed toys and for summer babies I just hemmed the edges of a single layer of flannel for a light wrap. Of course you can make really cute applique with contrasting coordinating patterns. I had some mayching solid, check and stripe that I did bunnies and puppies with 3-D floppy ears.
