I use flannel a LOT I love using them for backings on special quilts they make them so cosy, and there is nothing to stop you making tops with flannel instead of cotton just be careful of the patterns, something too fussy doesn't work, yellow brick road, turning twenties patterns are great for showing off lovely flannels. As someone said, "Create", use your imagination which is what quilting is about :-D
