Don't feel too much peer pressure to build a stash. Buy what you need for projects and you are bound to get some that don't work like you thought, so those go in your stash and over time it will build up. Remember a stash has to be stored in an organized way or it's not going to get used. What storage space do you have? Neutrals and blenders make good things for your stash and specialty fabrics are better bought as you need them for a project.
