JoAnn's policy is for Mgr to check purses and totes before you leave. And, the Mgr's purse/tote is checked before they leave. Most companies have this policy. Can't blame them due to the amount of theft by both employees and customers. We are always finding button cards, fabric boards, pattern pkgs empty and stashed somewhere after the contents are taken.
