Yes and I had surgery on both hands. Someone one here said that itis a nerve problem and she is correct. I got so bad that I could not hold onto things. I wore the braces everynight for 2 years before havong the surgery and they helped a great deal. It is caused from repition and mine would you believe was from picking up and tending to children. lol
