This conversation made me think back to the humble beginnings of our 'trade' - when thrifty mothers turned outgrown or nearly worn out pieces of clothing into lovely quilts to keep their loved ones warm. The cost was minimal - maybe some thread and perhaps batting. Today's quilters are shoppers! Fabrics, gadgets, machines, you name it. It's a whole different mindset, isn't it?
